Relax, Democrats
Feels like this story is written every four years. Relax, Democrats. Given their successes so far, hasn’t the team running the Obama campaign earned the benefit of the doubt?

Well said, dude.
Write about Bon Iver?
Benefit of the doubt? Maybe, maybe not. Still nursing primary resentments here.
But just wanted to say that it’s awesome that you have a new blog, with a range of stuff on it. I’m a fan and an admirer — very grateful for all you did over the last 18+ months.
Well, yes and no. On the one hand, I agree that the Obama campaign has proven deft at jumping the hurdles being thrown at it, as well as getting their bearings and steering the campaign in the right direction.
On the other hand, articles and murmurs like this are exactly how campaigns get their bearings. It can get lonely and isolated on State Street, and while it’s probably right to assume that Obama will make the right call given the input of pundits, donors, advisers, etc., that doesn’t obviate the need for input in the first place. Of course, usually all the chattering is a useless cacophony of voices, but occasionally there’s some semblance of harmony we call common wisdom. Sometimes the common wisdom is even right.
I do think Obama’s in a good position, though. McCain’s been spending like a wildfire before his public finance limitations kick in, and he’s only made marginally gains in swing states. A lot of Obama’s “bleeding” has been among Democrats who will more likely than not come back on Election Day. And so far I like the more aggressive post-Hawaii Obama.
