NY Mag Namechecks Glasvegas

New York magazine has a nice writeup of the news Glasvegas album/tour.  If you haven’t bought your tickets to their short tour of the East Coast this fall you should do so immediately.  Since the Clinton campaign ended I have seen them three different times in the U.K., each time coming away more and more impressed.

Here is a demo of “Daddy’s Gone,” which is what the Shirelles might have sounded like if they were fronted by a man and recorded in a garage.

I have heard Glasvegas compared favorably to the Manic Street Preachers in magazines, on websites, etc. However, I don’t hear that in this song or in Geraldine. Are their other songs out there that are more similar? On a side note, I’m really digging their bass heavy, percussive sound. They’ll blow the lid of Rock ‘N Roll Hotel.

    good tunes.

i hope you were able to check out james yorkston and the athletes while you were abroad in the uk. they unfortunately rarely make it over to the states, but their “moving up country” album from ‘02 will give you a good idea of how worth the wait they are.
