The Best Post Uncle Tupelo Album?

Prefix has a list of the best post-breakup Uncle Tupelo albums, in order.  Their #1 pick is Wilco’s Yankee Hotel Foxtrot — mine would be Son Volt’s Trace.  Better than both is Uncle Tupelo’s March 16-20, 1992.

“Grindstone” is one of my favorite songs by UT, Son Volt, or Wilco. I have always thought that Wilco should be broken up when comparing them to Uncle Tupelo with Summerteeth as the first of the “new” sound. My favorite Wilco album, but also what I think is the best post-UT record is Being There. There’s a progression towards a newer sound but it retains the roots influences to a pretty strong degree. Trace is fantastic as well.
