Fences Mended
After Hillary Clinton dropped out of the Presidential contest the New York Times ran this story: “Clinton May Come Home to Find a Little Fence Mending is Needed.”
Judging by today’s Marist poll whatever fence mending that was needed with New Yorkers has been accomplished. The survey finds Clinton garnering the highest job approval ratings of her career — 62% of New Yorkers say the junior Senator is doing an excellent or good job. African American voters — a particular focus of the Times piece – give her a 91% positive approval rating.

I was a fervent Obama supporter from the beginning (which made things a tad uncomfortable at dinner, since my spouse was an equally fervent Hillary supporter), and I can say with total sincerity that Hillary has been great in her support, top to bottom, of the ticket. And that has to help enormously if any fences did, in fact, need to be mended.
As one of Hillary’s constituents, I would appreciate it if she or Schumer went to bat for us on the issue of the alternative minimum tax and New Yorker’s cost-of-living.
